The Industry Leaders® Portfolio Strategy (ILPS) is a patented investment process that creates a portfolio of between 65 and 85 large cap Blue Chip companies – in 45 to 60 industries – with superior credit quality US Patent No 7,107,229 B1. In other words, the “best of the best,” leaders in their field identified by their substantial capitalization, established history of earnings and dividends, ample liquidity and easy access to credit. These companies have historically generated consistent, above average returns relative to the S&P 500. The Industry Leaders® Portfolio Strategy has produced the Industry Leaders Index, which has been calculated since December 31,1998 and back tested from December 31, 1986 to November 30, 1998. It is live under the ticker NILX on google finance, yahoo finance, msn and nasdaq.com It has been live on Bloomberg since September 2002.
We concentrate on Industry Leading stocks exclusively. This is based on our belief that a company’s balance sheet and financial strength reflects its potential to generate value, and allows a company to take advantage of market opportunities that result in better performance during downturns than their financially weaker competitors.
Significantly, the ILPS values portfolio performance above individual stock selection. Our scalable, highly disciplined process utilizes a proprietary allocation principle that helps capture mean reversion of performing and non-performing investments, preserving capital in down months and maintaining market performance during up months. Reallocated monthly, the ILPS is uniquely disciplined, often selling off stocks that have performed well while buying weaker performers to strike a prescribed balance in any given month.
It is a strategy that is not too risky, not too conservative, but designed for consistent solid returns throughout the year. And past performance has proven to deliver impressive results*: the ILPS has generated an annual average of 2.08% outperformance versus the S&P 500 Index over the past 23 years (12/31/89 to12/31/09).
